The Tennessee Medicaid program, TennCare, is being sued for delays in processing Medicaid applications submitted since October 1, 2013, through the federal health insurance marketplace. In a new enrollment process, TennCare required all applicants and existing beneficiaries to apply through the online federal health insurance marketplace website. The lawsuit, Melissa Wilson, et al. v. Darin Gordon, et al., was filed on July 23, 2014, by 11 named plaintiffs affected by the delay and by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Tennessee Justice Center, and the National Health Law Program.
