On July 24, 2023, Cognitive Research: Principles and Implications published this open access analysis of cognitive percpectives on maintaining physicians' medical expertise in the area of acquiring, maintaining and updating cognitive skills. For the analysis, the researchers reviewed dual-process theory, the dominant theory in explaining medical decision making; and discuss how the accumulation of System 1 clinical experience can have both positive and negative effects.
