Illinois State Board of Education: Proposal for the NCLB Differentiated Accountability Pilot
June 30, 2008 As part of the United States' No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Legislation, six states were chosen to join the Differentiated Accountability Pilot Program, a program designed for states to bring all schools up to NCLB standards by 2014. Illinois was one of those states. However, approval for Illinois was contingent upon assessments given in 2007-2008. The program began July 1, 2008, as all states were required to begin their program immediately after being chosen.
