On August 8, 2014, President Obama signed the Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education and Support Act, or Autism CARES Act of 2014, which reauthorizes the Combating Autism Act of 2006 for five more years, and in several provisions calls for greater focus on the needs of adults with autism and on the needs of youth transitioning from school-based supports to adulthood.
