Vital Signs: Obesity Among Low-Income, Preschool-Aged Children—United States, 2008-2011

Researchers affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed measured weight and height data of approximately 11.6 million low-income preschool children who had participated in the Pediatric Nutrition Surveillance System (PedNSS) during 2008-2011. The goal was to estimate state-specific obesity prevalence among low-income preschoolers. The data was submitted by 40 states, the District of Columbia, and two U.S. territories.
