Disability Rights Florida and two individuals known as T.W. and P.M. filed a class action complaint against the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, on behalf of over 300 individuals with psychiatric disabilities who claim they are unnecessarily segregated in state treatment facilities. All the individuals in the proposed class are committed to Florida state treatment facilities, but have expressed desire to live in the community, which their providers have agreed with and recommended.
