North Carolina Auditor Performance Audit: Department Of Health & Human Services Division Of Medical Assistance Medicaid Provider Eligibility

In this report released on August 15, 2015, North Carolina’s state auditor presented findings from a review of approved Medicaid provider enrollments during calendar year 2012. Two samples were reviewed: 100 higher risk applications approved by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) and 200 approved by DMA’s outsourced provider enrollment contractor. The auditor reported that about 65% of the higher risk applications approved by DMA and 20% of the applications approved by the contractor had errors or lacked supporting documentation for one or more of the four mandatory eligibility . . .
