Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: Don’t Be Misled

The Federal Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) consumer health information report concerns the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as a treatment method for a variety of illnesses that are not FDA-approved. The report warns that claims are being made by treatment centers using the method as a universal treatment, which can mislead patients and consumers. The FDA has received 27 complaints in the last three years from health care professionals who have found treatment centers that are not using the treatment for FDA-approved uses.
