The settlement was approved on August 27, 2026. Meta Platforms, Inc., the parent company of Facebook and Instagram agreed to make changes to its platforms to protect the mental health and well-being of adolescent users. The settlement was in response to a lawsuit filed by 48 states alleging that Meta had knowingly implemented platform features known to be addictive and harmful to adolescent well-being.
