Federal Approval Of California Medicaid State Plan Amendment To Implement Community First Choice Option

On August 31, 2012, California received the first federal approval for a State Plan Amendment to implement the Medicaid Community First Choice Option (CFCO). The CFCO requires California to offer community-based long-term care services and supports (LTSS) to all Medicaid beneficiaries in the state who meet the level of care criteria. In return, the state will receive a 6% higher Medicaid match for services provided to beneficiaries receiving CFCO services.
