July 29, 2008 The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) exercised its authority to assume control of Southeastern Center's finances due to evidence that the center was in danger of failing financially. A DHHS administrator was appointed to perform a root cause analysis and other evaluations of the center's current problems.
