Developing Medicare And Medicaid Substance Abuse Treatment Spending Estimates

In September 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)and the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) contracted with Mathematica Policy Research to conduct research on Medicare and Medicaid substance abuse (SA) treatment spending. The study includes both methodological and programmatic issues, and includes an overview of Medicare coverage of substance abuse treatment, expenditures, Medicare advantage, and prescribed drug expenditures.
