Western Highlands Area Authority Board Meeting Regarding Merger With Smoky Mountain Center

The meeting minutes discuss aspects of how the two organizations plan to integrate operations. In April 2013, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services informed Western Highlands Network, a managed care organization that administers state-funded mental health, addiction, and developmental disability support services, that the state was terminating its contract as of June 30, 2013. Western Highlands and neighboring managed care organization Smoky Mountain Center made plans to merge operations.
