California AB-531 The Behavioral Health Infrastructure Bond Act Of 2023

On September 11, 2023, the California legislature passed Assembly Bill (AB) 531: the Behavioral Health Infrastructure Bond Act Of 2023. The legislation includes a $6.38 billion general obligation bond to build 10,000 new treatment beds and supportive housing units to help serve more than 100,000 people annually. The governor has until October 14, 2023, to sign the legislation. Its passage will allow two companion bills, Senate Bill 326 and Assembly Bill 531, to appear jointly on the March 2024 ballot as Proposition 1 . . .
