Medicare Program; Home Health Prospective Payment System Refinement & Rate Update for Calendar Year 2008; Final Rule

August 29, 2007 The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) final rule features updates to the Medicare home health prospective payment system. According to the rule, CMS will increase home health agency prospective payment rates by three percent in 2008 over the 2007 rates. In order to qualify for the rate increase, agencies must report on 12 quality measures in the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS); this includes the 10 previous OASIS data points and two new measures: Emergency care for wound infections and deteriorating wound status Improvement in status . . .
