CDCR Presentation Impact of AB 109 Prisoner Realignment on Counties

October 1, 2011 California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) outlined the impacts of a legislative mandate (Assembly Bill 109) to shift responsibility for prison inmates from the state prison system to the counties. The shift--referred to as realignment--was part of the state's effort to reduce prison overcrowding to meet goals set by a court order.
