New York State A03887, Of 2016: An Act To Amend The Education Law, In Relation To Clarifying Health Education

On September 30, 2016, New York Governor Cuomo signed this legislation that will add mental health education as a mandatory topic in the public school health education curriculum. The provisions go into effect July 1, 2018. Prior to the effective date, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) will release a resource packet. The Act calls on school districts to ensure that their health education programs recognize the multiple dimensions of health by including mental health and the relationship between mental and physical health in health education . . .
