Parsons v. Ryan Settlement Agreement
On October 14, 2014, the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) announced it had reached a settlement agreement that calls for improvements to inmate health care and an overhaul of ADC policies on handling inmates with serious mental illness (SMI). The settlement is in response to the Parsons v. Ryan class action lawsuit filed on behalf of more than 33,000 prisoners by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Prison Law Office, and ACDL.
