CMS Letter To North Carolina Regarding Contracts With MCO/LMEs
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) questioned the nature of North Carolina's contracts with the local management entities/managed care organizations (LME/MCOs) that manage public behavioral health services under at-risk capitated contracts. The LME/MCOs are considered government entities; the contracts are not competitively procured.
