CMS Memorandum Of Understanding With South Carolina Medicaid For Duals Financial Alignment Initiative

On October 25, 2013, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it had approved South Carolina Medicaid’s plan for a capitated financial alignment demonstration project to coordinate payment and service delivery for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) project is called Healthy Connections Prime. The memorandum of understanding allows South Carolina to move forward with the project, which will start opt-in enrollment in July 2014, with the services to start in January 2015.
