Maine Medicaid Section 1115 Whole Person Care Demonstration Waiver Extension

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved Maine's Medicaid waiver extension on October 25, 2026. The demonstration renewal is effective from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2031. With the extension, the state will continue to reimburse for inpatient services provided by an institution of mental disease (IMD) for beneficiaries with substance use disorder, and will be able to newly reimburse for IMD services for beneficiaries with serious mental illness.
