Researchers with the U.S. Census Bureau analyzed data from the 2010 American Population Survey about people over the age of 90. In 2010, there were 1.9 million U.S. residents over the age of 90; they represented 0.6% of the entire 305 million population that year. By 2050, the number of 90- year-olds is expected to increase by 373% to reach 9 million and constitute 2.3% of the projected 392 million United States population.
