Oklahoma Department of Human Services FAQ On Institutional Vs. Community Services For Individuals With Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities

The Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) is preparing to close its last developmental centers over the next two years by transitioning the approximately 230 residents to community-based homes and supportive services. A resolution adopted in November 2012 directed DDSD to close the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center (SORC) by April 30, 2014, and the Northern Oklahoma Resource Center at Enid (NORCE) by August 31, 2015. This document responds to frequently asked questions about the closure.
