Care Delayed, Care Denied: Kaiser Permanentes Failure to Provide Timely and Appropriate Mental Health Services
November 15, 2011 The National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) released a report claiming that Kaiser Permanente failed to provide timely and appropriate services to mental health patients. NUHW found that Kaiser often violates the California law requiring health maintenance organizations to provide patients with "timely access" to appropriate mental health services, reportedly falsifies patient scheduling records to avoid being cited by state regulators, funneling patients into group therapy even when when it is less effective, reportedly performs initial patient evaluations and other mental health services that fall short of recommended clinical standards and incorrectly codes evaluations and services, and . . .
