Electronic Health Record Systems and Intent to Apply for Meaningful Use Incentives Among Office-based Physician Practices: United States, 2001-2011
In November 2011, the National Center for Health Statistics published the results of its National Ambulatory Medicare Survey. This report describes trends in adoption of electronic medical record/electronic health record (EMR/EHR) systems through 2011 and provides baseline information on physician readiness to meet eight Stage 1 Core meaningful use objectives in 2010. According to the report, in 2011 57% of office-based physicians used EMR/EHR systems which ranged from 40% in Louisiana to 84% in North Dakota. Similarly, in 2011 physicians reporting an intention of applying for meaningful use incentives increased to 52% from 41% in 2010 . . .
