Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Announces Independent Team to Oversee Investigation of CPS Cases
On December 2, 2013, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer announced the creation of an independent Child Advocate Response Examination Team (CARE Team) that is charged with providing oversight for the investigations of 6,554 closed cases that were designated over the past four years as “not investigated” by Arizona Child Protective Services (CPS). The independent CARE Team also will examine the CPS system to identify areas of concern. The review will include consideration of personnel, operations, processes, and policies.
