Evercare Study of Family Caregivers What They Spend, What They Sacrifice
November 2007 Researchers at Evercare, in collaboration with the National Alliance for Caregiving, estimate that family caregivers caring for a spouse or parent with age-related disabilities spend an average of $5,531 per year on expenses. Expenses included groceries, household goods, medications, medical co-payments, and transportation. Researchers found that this financial burden weighed heaviest on lower income families.
