This report was released by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The researchers analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2009 to 2012. The NHANES, conducted by the NCHS, is a continuous cross-sectional survey of the civilian non-institutionalized U.S. population designed to assess the health and nutrition of Americans.
