In December 2012 the New York State Office of the State Comptroller conducted research to determine if the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision paid health care providers the correct rate for inmate medical services. The department is responsible for providing inmates with the level of care that would be received in the community. The department contracts with outside providers for certain services.
