Psychotropic Medication Use Among Adolescents: United States, 2005–2010
The authors, affiliated with the National Center for Health Statistics in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, sought to estimate psychotropic medication use in the past month among U.S. non-institutionalized adolescents aged 12–19 during 2005–2010, using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). For this analysis, the researchers also examined trends in adolescent psychotropic drug use by sex, race and Hispanic origin, and mental health professional consultation.
