December 10, 2004 Private-For-Profit and Private-Non-Profit Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities: 2003 The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) is an annual survey of all facilities in the United States, both public and private, that provide substance abuse treatment. In 2003, there were more than 11,000 facilities in N-SSATS operated by private organizations. These facilities accounted for 87 percent of all N-SSATS facilities.
