Investigation of the Taycheedah Correctional Facility

May 1, 2006 The Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice investigated the conditions and practices of the Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. They found that sexual misconduct prevention practices met or exceeded constitutional requirements. However, the investigators concluded that certain conditions at Taycheedah violate inmate's constitutional rights by failing to provide for their mental health needs. This report has prompted the state of Wisconsin to add a female psychiatric unit to its correctional facilities . . .
