Ranking America’s Mental Health: An Analysis of Depression Across the States

December 11, 2007 The researchers reviewed 2004-2005 data on depression and suicide rates in each state and then reviewed state factors. The analysis revealed that Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, and New Jersey were in the top ten ranking in terms of both relative depression status and suicide rates. Idaho, Nevada, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming were in the bottom ten ranking in terms of relative depression status and suicide rates.
