Medicare Mental Health Copayment Equity Act of 2007
June 27, 2007 The Senate is considering 2008 Medicare legislation, including the Medicare Mental Health Copayment Equity Act of 2007 (S. 1715), which was introduced in June 2007, by Senator Olympia Snow. This Act, S1715, seeks to repeal Medicare's higher co-payment for outpatient mental health services. Currently, Medicare beneficiaries have a 50% co-payment for such services, but outpatient medical services have only a 20% co-payment. The bill was introduced into the Senate and immediately referred to the Senate Committee on Finance.
