Illinois DCFS Inspector General Annual Report To The Governor & The General Assembly

On December 21, 2022, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Office of Inspector General published this annual report to the state Governor and the state General Assembly. In the report, the OIG identified a systemic pattern of child protection investigations in which there were significant delays in making initial contact with alleged child victims of abuse or neglect. In these cases, the Department failed to fulfill an essential responsibility in protecting children.
