The Telehealth Promotion Act of 2012 (HR 6719)

The Telehealth Promotion Act of 2012 (HR 6719) was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on December 30, 2012. The bill would establish a federal reimbursement policy, wherein "no [medical] benefit covered shall be excluded solely because it is furnished via a telecommunications system." Additionally, HR 6719 would implement a federal licensure system for federal health plan provider organizations. The provider organization would need to be licensed in the state of their physical location but would be to treat eligible patients anywhere in the nation.
