Incentive Payments For State And Local Institutions

In December 2005, the Social Security Administration (SSA) updated a fact sheet addressing the payment by SSA of incentives to state and local correctional and certain mental health institutions for reporting the incarceration of Social Security or SSI recipients. In most cases, Social Security or SSI benefits cannot be paid to people who are in prisons or other public institutions.
