Justice Research Summary: Prediction And Risk/Needs Assessment
In May 2014, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) released a Justice Research bulletin (NCJ 243976) exploring predictions of young adult crime from juvenile histories and assessments of risk, needs, and protective factors. The bulletin discusses our ability to predict whether a young adult will commit crimes based on information available from his or her juvenile years and reviews assessment tools used to make these predictions.
