On April 17, 2014, Kanas Governor Sam Brownback signed Kansas House Bill 2744 to implement an autism insurance mandate. For new plans issued on or after January 1, 2015 and for grandfathered plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2016, health insurers must cover the costs of diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) for covered dependents up to age 12.
