The report was released in 2014 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with ASCD, a global education organization focused on empowering educators to advance and elevate learning to meet the needs of all students. The ASCD's Whole Child Initiative launched in 2007 to change the focus of education from narrowly defined academic achievement to promotion of long-term development and success of children.
