On March 23, 2018, a Connecticut judge ruled that a specialized nursing home for prison parolees on compassionate release was not a correctional facility for the purposes of local zoning in the Town of Rocky Hill. The facility, 60 West, opened in 2013 under a contract between the state Department of Mental Health and Addictions Services (DMHAS) and SecureCare. The 95 bed facility takes referrals from DMHAS as well as the Department of Corrections.
