On January 13, 2022, the Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) Commission (HHSC) released the Statewide Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities(I/DD) Strategic Plan. The plan was developed primarily by external stakeholders across state, federal and local agencies and authorities. The plan calls for more self-determination, more behavioral health services, and more supported housing and employment. The plan identifies the needs and issues impacting peoplewith I/DD, and also makes recommendations to address these gaps. Texas is home to approximately 485,000 children and adults with I/DD.
