Biography

Dr. Allison Meyers brings more than 10 years of practical experience in scientific research and data management to the OPEN MINDS team. Her expertise includes communication, data analysis, project management, and grant preparation.

Dr. Meyers comes to OPEN MINDS from her Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Neurobiology Department at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In this fellowship Dr. Meyers investigated neural circuits implicated in binge drinking disorders and presented the data findings at 3 national conferences, as well as in a manuscript. Dr. Meyers also managed the grant submission process, including budgeting, scientific preparation, and guideline compliance. During this time, she acted as a member of the Promoting Belonging in Neurobiology Committee, organizing and moderating seminars and events.

Previously, Dr. Meyers was a Predoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biology at CUNY Graduate Center where she researched the effect of chronic high-fat diet consumption on the dopaminergic system. She developed and managed large-scale projects, including planning, data acquisition, and team management. Dr. Meyers prepared and published 3 scientific manuscripts during this fellowship.

Prior to this, Dr. Meyers was and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Queens College, where she gave undergraduate lectures in Statistical Laboratory and Intro to Psychology. She was responsible for organizing lesson plans, examinations, presentations, and feedback on written assignments.

Dr. Meyers earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stony Brook University. She earned a Master of Arts in Behavioral Neuroscience from Queens College, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology (Neuroscience) from CUNY Graduate Center.
