Dr. Angela McMahon brings over 15 years of experience in the health and human services industry to the OPEN MINDS team, with expertise in compliance and regulations management, business development, accreditation, and national clinical outreach. She currently serves as a Senior Associate for OPEN MINDS consulting practice.

Prior to her role with OPEN MINDS, Dr. McMahon served as the National Clinical Liaison for Elements Behavioral Health. In this role, Dr. McMahon supported business development, communicated with referents and support families, and planned lunch and learn events for clinicians, therapists, hospitals, and treatment facilities. Dr. McMahon was also responsible for budget and expense reports.

Before her time at Elements Behavioral Health, Dr. McMahon served as the Lead Utilization Review and Counselor for Lasting Recovery. In this role, Dr. McMahon increased Utilization Review approvals by 57% in her first two months. Dr. McMahon further created protocols to create staff cohesiveness, assisted with CARF accreditation, and led process group and case management.

Prior to her role at Lasting Recovery, Dr. McMahon served as an Officer Manager and Counselor for Bay Recovery. In these roles, Dr. McMahon interviewed, evaluated, supervised, trained, and mentored staff. Dr. McMahon also reviewed staff strengths and weaknesses and assisted with JCAHO accreditation.

Previously, Dr. McMahon served as the Officer Manager for Dr. John Qian’s Advanced Pain & Rehab. In this role, Dr. McMahon helped increase new patient consultations by 46% and surgeries by 336%. Dr. McMahon also helped to decrease costs by creating new systems and policies and staff training. Dr. McMahon further assisted in strategic planning, implementation of a surgery center, and relocation of the primary office.

Dr. McMahon received a Doctorate in Educational Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. Her doctoral degree is complimented with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. Dr. McMahon additionally earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Argosy University.
