Dee Brown, MSM, brings a wealth of experience in operations management and business development to OPEN MINDS clients. In addition, Ms. Brown has extensive experience with public, private, and government integrated managed systems of care that span health, behavioral health, and the child welfare fields. Ms. Brown currently serves as the National Director of Community Care Organizations for UnitedHealthcare and is a part of their clinical innovations team overseeing health homes.
Ms. Brown previously served as the Director of Enrollment and Operations at CareFirst BC/BS. Prior to her work at CareFirst, Ms. Brown served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Integra ServiceConnect in Owings Mills, Maryland, an integrated health care coordination organization. She was also the Chief Operating Officer for a quasi-government non-profit overseeing the behavioral health system for Baltimore City, Maryland.
Ms. Brown also worked as the Senior Director of Network Development for Harmony Behavioral Health, the managed behavioral health subsidiary of WellCare in Florida. In her role there, she was responsible for network development and provider data integrity and website functionality.
In a similar role, Ms. Brown also served as Senior Vice President of provider network services while working with Magellan Health Services. In this position, she had national responsibility for all provider services (contracting, rate setting, data management, credentialing, network management, and outreach), serving a network of over 50,000 individual professionals, 6,000 group practices, and 3,000 facilities and provider organizations.
In addition to this executive experience in managed behavioral health programs, Ms. Brown also has experience with the children’s services sector. As the Chief Operating Officer for Foster America, she was responsible for operating the company’s service location in Baltimore City, overseeing a Title IV-E waiver in concert with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Social Services and the University of Maryland. Ms. Brown provided oversight of the company’s operations with a budget of $8 million annually. She also worked with Devereux Foundation as the Director of New Business Development, where she was responsible for national new business opportunities for programs for individuals of all ages who have a wide range of emotional and developmental disabilities.
Ms. Brown received both her Bachelor’s degree in business and her Master’s degree in management from Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pennsylvania.
