Biography

Dennis Grantham, M.A. brings more than 25 years of experience in marketing, business development, and communications to OPEN MINDS. Before joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Grantham served for five years as editor-in-chief of Behavioral Healthcare magazine, where he is credited with revitalizing the magazine’s coverage of behavioral health policy and health information technology. During his tenure, he was responsible for planning industry coverage, expanding the magazine’s annual IT Vendor Survey, redesigning its website, building a LinkedIn group which grew from 300 in 2009 to 5,400 members by early 2014, all while expanding the magazine’s followers on Facebook and Twitter. As a result, Mr. Grantham boosted the magazine’s readership by 30 percent and won consecutive Gold Awards for Excellence (2010, 2011, 2012) from the American Society for Healthcare Publication Editors.

Mr. Grantham also served as the manager of corporate communications for Swagelok Corporation, a $1 billion international manufacturing firm. While there, he was responsible developing procedures and messaging to integrated corporate, sales and market communications worldwide via web, employee intranet, sales extranet, bulletin boards, presentations, and print. One of the most notable projects he worked on was an extensive public relations campaign which included a media tour for a newly-launched semiconductor business helping to secure media coverage in influential industry publications. He also oversaw the management of media relations and internal communications for several corporate initiatives including new facility development, compensation and benefit changes, and facility closures and consolidations.

In his role with Swagelok, Mr. Grantham created the organization’s emergency response plan for all facilities; developing a crisis management plan, and training executives and top global managers through mock crisis scenarios, crisis media training, and escalation exercises.

Mr. Grantham’s background also includes extensive work with the development, documentation, and launch of new technology products. He wrote, edited, and tested usability of online and hardcopy training and user documentation for computer networks. He also consulted with developers on the design and functionality of user interfaces for various workstation and PC based software packages.

Mr. Grantham received his Master of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing from Carnegie Mellon University and his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Allegheny College.
