Biography

Jim Trexler brings over 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field.  Mr. Trexler is currently a Subject Matter Expert in the OPEN MINDS Consulting practice.

Mr. Trexler also serves as a Consultant with The JT Group, in the National Security Agency, Office of the Director of Compliance. In this role, he directed the analysis of an internal compliance review process, resulting in the design and creation of a technical solution to automate parts of the process and reducing person hours by 75%. In addition, he guided government leaders through the funding acquisition process and managed the review of the performance metrics process to improve efficiency.

As the Senior Systems Engineer at AETIS, Mr. Trexler served as the prime contractor Program Manager, where he advised senior leaders in the design and development of related policies and processes, identifying business rules, functional system requirements project risks and lessons learned documentation. In this role he implemented performance management tools and developed reports for management decision support.

Prior to his role at AETIS, Mr. Trexler served as the Vice President, Analytic Services at Magellan Behavioral Health. In this role, he was responsible for all internal and external non-financial reporting and analysis. He recruited, hired and led the department’s development with a staff of 50 and a budget of $30 million. During this time, the organization developed a national reputation for excellence in behavioral health informatics. Mr. Trexler lowered operations costs, improved financial analysis capabilities, and increased customer service of regional offices through research and analysis that identified administrative inefficiencies.

Mr. Trexler’s specialties include, interim IT departmental management, operations re-engineering, reorganizations, strategic planning, change management, project management, Internet site redesign, data warehousing, performance measurement, metrics development, and management reporting systems development.  Mr. Trexler has applied his consulting skills in the Department of Defense, financial services, healthcare, and State government sectors.

Mr. Trexler received his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education at Springfield College, and his Masters’ Degree in Motor Behavior from Penn State University. He also has a Master of Public Health degree in Healthcare Policy and Management from Yale University School of Medicine
