Keith Little brings more than 40 years of executive leadership experience in the mental health field to the OPEN MINDS team. He has extensive management experience in both state government and in the management of non-profit provider organization serving children and adults. His work has included working with mental health and addiction treatment programs, health care services, early childhood education, intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) services, and the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
Previously, Mr. Little served as the President & Chief Executive Officer of SCO Family of Services. The organization is a multi-service organization with multiple service locations throughout the metropolitan New York City. The array of services lead by Mr. Little included early childhood services, school-based services and summer program, residential and day schools for young adults, juvenile justice programs, residential foster care and transitional housing programs, homeless services, home care, and a full array of residential and clinic-based treatment and support services for consumer with behavioral health disorders and cognitive disabilities. Prior to joining SCO Family of Services, Mr. Little was the Executive Director of Edwin Gould Services for Children & Families.
Before his work with provider organizations, Mr. Little was the Associate Commissioner, Bureau of Children & Families for the New York State Office of Mental Health. In this role he was responsible for the oversight of state operations for children’s services.
Mr. Little also served as the Interim Executive Director of the Children’s Law Center, where he successfully led the organization through the recruitment of a new executive director. During his tenure, he led the executive team in implementing a development strategy to advance fundraising efforts and played a key role in union negotiations which led to a contractual agreement. He is also the Director of the InUnity BIPOC Institute To Advance Leadership Equity.
Mr. Little earned a Master of Public Administration graduate degree from Baruch College, City University of New York, and a bachelor’s degree from University of Bridgeport. He sits on the Board of Directors for Good Shepherd Services, the Black Agency Executives, CASES, MercyFirst, and Brownsville Partnership.
