Leon Boyko, MBA, LCSW, has over 15 years of extensive experience at both state- and privately-run organizations in the medical, psychiatric, substance abuse, correctional, and forensic health care industries. Throughout his career, Mr. Boyko has gained experience spanning all levels of service from direct care to clinical social work, giving him a unique understanding of the field incorporating the financial and operational aspects of healthcare, as well as the legal and regulatory standards, and individual medical, mental, and behavioral needs of diverse client populations.
Mr. Boyko currently serves as both the Chief of Crisis & Recovery Services Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer for Recovery Innovations (RI) International, formerly Recovery Innovations, based in Phoenix, Arizona. As Chief Crisis & Recovery Services Officer, Mr. Boyko leads RI’s Crisis Services, the company’s fastest-growing area, with new programs in Arizona, California, Delaware, North Carolina, Texas, and Washington.
Prior to joining RI, Mr. Boyko served as the Chief Clinical Officer at Crisis Response Network, where he was responsible for the entire Tempe, Arizona call center and network clinical operations. This included four network provider organizations across Maricopa County.
Formerly, Mr. Boyko was the National Clinical Director for the Community Health Services Division at Correctional Healthcare Companies (CHC). As the Clinical Director, Mr. Boyko was responsible for facility licensing, the creation of new policies and procedures, and the hiring of new management staff for all clinical operations in the division. During this time, he improved manager accountability and performance, updated and created a new multi-axel psychosocial assessment, and successfully licensed and opened CHC’s first Florida outpatient office.
Mr. Boyko’s experience also includes several years at Phoenix-based, Valle del Sol, first as the Director of Adult Services and then as Vice President of Business & Program Development. As the Director of Adult Services, he successfully oversaw all aspects of clinical and administrative operations for two outpatient behavioral health clinics. Subsequently, he eliminated $150,000 in costs, increased department revenue 33%, and utilized his in-depth knowledge of regulatory standards to avoid thousands of dollars in legal fees by identifying and advising company officers on potential legal risks. After two years in this role, Mr. Boyko became the Vice President of Business & Program Development, where he designed and updated the agency’s strategic plan, implemented and supervised new, integrated primary care and behavioral health clinics, and successfully obtained over $5 million in additional funding.
Mr. Boyko received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and his Master of Social Work—with an emphasis on Hospital and Behavioral Health—from Arizona State University. Mr. Boyko earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. Additionally, he is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Arizona Board of Health Examiners.
