Linda Pophal brings over 25 years of strategic marketing and communications, public relations, media relations, business journalism, and strategic planning experience to the OPEN MINDS team. Ms. Pophal currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert, working on projects related to developing strategic partnerships, brand and reputation management, strategic communications, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Ms. Pophal served as a Communication Consultant for Strategic Communications, LLC, based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. In this role, Ms. Pophal was responsible for content marketing and strategic communication planning for large and small clients. Pophal specialized in strategy, strategic planning, employee communication, media relations, marketing/brand management, and writing. While in this role, Ms. Pophal served as a digital marketing specialist with the state of Wisconsin’s Center for Business Intelligence team.

Concurrent to her tenure with Strategic Communications, LLC, Ms.Pophal, was also a freelance Business Journalist/Writer, providing content curation, management, and writing services either directly, or through agencies, in the fields of human resource management, employee relations, marketing, healthcare, and technology. Pophal has written for numerous trade and professional publications, including Information Today, EContent, Credit Union Management, SHRM, and others. Pophal has also been the author of several books, including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Strategic Planning.

Previously, Ms. Pophal served as a Lecturer and Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. During her tenure, Ms. Pophal worked for the Management and Marketing Department, teaching courses in strategic management, business presentations, consumer behavior, and market research. Ms. Pophal also worked for the Communication and Journalism Department, teaching courses in advertising, public relations, training, human resources development, and speech.

Prior to her tenure with the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Ms. Pophal served as the Director of Corporate Communications for the Mayo Clinic Health System – Eau Claire. In this role, Ms. Pophal managed the corporate communication, writing and marketing functions and, was Chair of the marketing and product development committees.
